Local Dance Company Supports Area Youth Now Needs Community Support

Grace Dance Theater (GDT) of Philadelphia began as “Company Grace” in 1991 and was founded by Carol Cubbage Davis. The grass-roots modern dance ensemble embodies the grace of dance, the spirit of dance, and the sheer joy of dance. Their powerful movements stir the heart because they dance about the human condition.

Study in the creative and performing arts is a proven way to increase discipline, perseverance, goal setting and overall positive youth development. Three of the  students from Grace Dance Theater will appear in an upcoming Debbie Allen theatrical production. This company, which has supported the positive development of young people for 23 years, is now in need of help from the community. The founder of Grace Dance Theater, Carol Cubbage Davis, lost her battle with breast cancer. The retired school teacher, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority member and Temple University Alumni had two goals in her life 1) to provide affordable dance classes to all youth and 2) to start her own dance company. Ms. Davis worked tirelessly on her dream and now its survival is in jeopardy because of her passing. My name is Jeanine Fennal and I am dancer with Grace Dance Theater. I have been with the company since my junior year in high school when it was The Company Grace. Thank You so much for showing us love by posting this. We are grateful and humbled by the word even getting out beyond our circle. We definitely are covered by God’s Grace. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We all Thank you… Miss Carol was huge part of our lives and we want nothing more than to keep her dream alive and help her legacy going.
