School is back in session and for many of us school work trumps exercise. If you want to start exercising, but you’re not feeling motivated or feeling overwhelmed about taking the first step, you should think about doing Pilates. Pilates is a workout that will give you strength, flexibility and promotes lean muscle mass.
Some people say it’s similar to yoga, because Pilates incorporate some yoga moves, but its main focus is on the core. Pilates won’t just give a killer core; it will tone up your entire body. Better yet, you’ll be able to see results in a matter of weeks, four tops, if you incorporate a cardio workout and practice Pilates three times a week.
Another great thing about Pilates is the equipment; you need little to none. All you truly need is a yoga mat, towel or a comfortable non-slip surface. Thanks to the internet, there are numerous Pilates workout videos online for free.
A popular, supportive and free site is Blogilates, run by Cassey Ho. Cassey is a certified fitness instructor and the creator of Pop Pilates workouts. She has a large number of workout videos and promotes clean eating. Cassey has a great and informational POP Pilates for Beginners – Total Body Workout and recently she created a Pop Pilates for Beginners Calendar.
The first step to exercise or starting back to is sometimes difficult. By easing your way into it and taking each day one step at a time, you take care of your body and make it the most healthy it can be.
