Okay so golf may not be the most interesting sport to some of us, but when we think of it, Tiger Woods is probably the first person to come to mind. Well Tiger better watch out because 19 year old Ginger Howard is coming for him. Ginger was the youngest African American to turn pro at age 17, and the first African American to earn a spot in the U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team (a big deal in the golf world). She is currently a professional golfer on the Symetra Tour where she is continuing to make history as a African American female swinging her way to the top. Born and raised in Philadelphia (Philly stand up!), Ginger is really just a normal teenage girl. Her family isn’t wealthy or sidity. Even though Holiday Inn sponsors her, it is still a struggle to pay for travel, coaching, and tournament fees. But even with that, she still continues to follow her dreams. Golf is her passion, and her determination and strong will keep her at the top of her game.
