Sounds crazy, right? Why would anyone use food to treat their hair? Truth is, these products you can find in the grocery store are actually better for your hair health than products found at your local beauty supply store. You’ll soon find out that they are more natural and harmless to your beautiful tresses! So what are these products you can find in your kitchen, might you ask? They’re veggies and oils! I’ll give you a few quick recipes to use when you find your hair is in need of moisture.
Recipe 1: Olive Oil and Avocado hair mask
One whole avocado
Two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
Directions: All you have to do is peel one avocado, take the seed out, cut it in small chunks, and throw it in a blender. After that, pour your measured EVOO into the blender. Blend until the mix has a smooth consistency, and there you have it! A thick, rich, and creamy hair mask. Apply to hair, let it sit for about thirty minutes, and rinse out.
Recipe 2: Banana hair mask
One whole banana
About two tablespoons of almond oil
Directions: Peel and cut the banana in small chunks. Throw into the blender, along with your almond oil, and blend until its looks and feels smooth. Apply mixture to the hair (use lukewarm towel or hairdryer to quicken the process of your hair absorbing the nutrients). Rinse with cool water, as warm water will further strip your hair of moisture!
Your hair will love you for this! Especially since the colder weather can demand your hair gets more moisture. Get it back with your own homemade concoctions. There is no need to limit yourself!
